Bach Flower Remedies
“For those who are sick, peace
of mind and harmony with the soul are the greatest aid to recovery”
Dr Edward Bach (1880 - 1936)
Principles of BFR
Using Bach Flower Remedies enable us to achieve
emotional balance and harmony. Often, when we experience the
“symptoms” of ill health, or unwell-ness, it indicates an underlying
emotional issue. Once we recognise the emotional cause of our
disharmony and work to redress the emotional imbalance, then we can
acquire better health and well being.
What are BFR?
Bach
Flower Remedies were discovered by Dr Edward Bach in the UK during
the 1930`s. Though trained as a medical practitioner, Dr Bach
developed an interest in homeopathy and later went on to discover
the unique 38 Bach Flower Remedies, before his death in 1936.
He believed that the attitude of the mind played a
vital role in maintaining health and recovering from illness.
The individual remedies are available from most high street
pharmacies or health shops. They are taken orally, either directly
on your tongue, or put into liquid to be taken over a period of
time.
Where do BFR come from?
There are 38 individual Bach Flower Remedies, plus
the “Rescue Remedy”, which is a combination of 5 of the remedies,
designed specifically for difficult/stressful situations. 37 of the
38 remedies are based on single wild flowers and tree blossoms, that
are commonly found in the UK. The exception is Rock Water, which is
made from the water of a natural spring with healing properties.
The mother tinctures are still created by the Bach
Foundation in the house that was Dr Bach`s home at Mount Vernon,
Sotwell, Oxfordshire.
How do BFR work?
Bach Flower Remedies, like other forms of natural
medicine, treat the individual, not the illness or its symptoms.
They work specifically on the emotional state of each individual.
On
this principle, two people with the same complaint, say eczema, may
be recommended completely different remedies - one may be concerned
about their physical appearance (requiring Crab Apple), the other
may be resentful of their condition (requiring Willow).
The effect of taking the remedies is not to
suppress negative feelings or attitudes, but to transform them into
positive ones, stimulating the potential for self healing.
People do not need to be physically ill to benefit
from the remedies. The remedies are invaluable in restoring
emotional balance to negativity moods.
What does a BFR consultation involve?
Your initial consultation usually takes an hour.
We will simply talk about your current emotional state, the feelings
you're experiencing and why.
This will enable me to suggest the appropriate
Bach Flower Remedies to help your presenting needs. You will decide
what remedies we use, if you don't agree with any I suggest, you
don't have to take them!
The selected remedies are made up into a treatment
bottle, for you to take away with you.
You will then need to take 4 drops of the treatment remedy four
times a day, the bottle should last about 3 weeks.
After that time, you may wish to make a follow up
appointment to discuss what further, if any, remedies would be
helpful to you.
